CHAPTER CLXVII.
An Act requiring all official bonds to be made payable to the State of Ten
nessec.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of'
Tennessee, That all official bonds, hereafter to be execu-
ted by officers having charge of any part of the public
service, and all other bonds, which, by existing laws,
must be made payable to any functionary of tle gov-
ernment, shall be made payable to the State of Tennes-
see, in whose name suits may be prosecuted, in favor of
the beneficiaries therein.

CHAPTER CLXVIII.
An Act to reduce the several nats incorporating the Town or Nashville into
one act, and to amend the same.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
lncorporation. State of Tennessee, That the inhabitants of the City of
Nashville, as the same extends and is laid out, are here-
by constituted a corporation and body politic by the
name and style of the Mayor and Aldermen of the City
of Nashville, and by the siame name shall have perpetual
succession, shall sue and be sued, implead and be im-
pleaded, in all courts of law and equity, and in all ac-
tions whatsoever, may purchase, receive, and hold prop-
erty, real and personal within said city, and may sell,
lease, or dispose of the same, for the benefit of said city,
and may purchase; receive and hold property, real and
personal- beyond the limits of the city, to be used for
the burial of the dead, for the erection of Water Works,
fbr the establishment of a Hospital, for a Poor House,
Work House, or house of correction; and may sell,lease,
or dispose of such property forthe benefit of the city, and
do all other acts touching the same as natural persons:
they shall have and use a common sea], and change it at
pleasure.
Sc. 2. There shall be a city council to consist of a
mayor and board of aldermen. The board of alder-
