L. P. Harda- SECTION 1. Bc ie enacted by the General Assenbly ofthe
way.. HardState of Tennessee, 'That the comptroller 'of the State of
Tennessee, be and he is herieby authorized and required to
issue his warrant to the treasurer of the said State, requir-
ing him to pay Leriuel P. THrdaway the stim of four hun-
dred and flortytwo dollars for his service,. and for monies
paid out by-him in pursuing, arresting and bringing from
sister States, felotis, who had fled from this ,State as fugi-
tives from justice.
Joseph New- 'SEc. 2.  Be it enacted, That the corhptroller of the State of
man.      Tennessee, be and he is hereby required to issue his war-
rant t6 the treasurer, to pay Joseph Newman, foimer sheriff
of Franklin county, eighty five dollars for.extra guard, in
bringing Zebadiah Payne from Franklin county to the Su-
preme Court at Nash ville.

and fifty dollars, as compensation for extra Judicial services
performed by him in obedience to the requirements of an
act of Assembly, passed 15th Janiuary, 1844.

CHAPTER CLXXXII.
An Act to incorporate the Memphis and Charleston Rail Road Company.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
incorporation. State of Tennessee, That for the purpose of establishing a
communication by railroad between Memphis, Tennessee,
and Charleston,' South Carolina, the formation of a com-
pany is hereby authorized, which when formed shall be a
body corporate by the name and style-of the Memphis and
Charleston Rail Road Company; and by said corporate
name shall be capable in law to buy, receive by gift, hold,
sell and convey real and personal estate, as hereinafter pro-
vided; make contracts, sue and be sued, to make by-laws,
and to do all lawful acts properly incident to a corporation
and necessary and proper to the transaction of the business
for which it is incorporated; and to have and use a common
