allowance certifed by the clerk of said court, on which he
shall procure the receipt of such clainant,.showing that [the]
same had been paid.by such sheriff, which amount shall be
allowed all such sheriffs as a credit in their settlements with
the comptroller of the treasuly.

CHAPTER CXXXIii.
An Act to repeat part of an act, entitled an act suppletnental to an act to
establish Circuit Courts, passed the 20th of Februar ', IS3.
SCIoN 1. Be it enacted, b1 the Gewnral Assembly of
the Slate qf Tennessee, That so much of the 9th section
of the above recited act as provides, that if the master of
any slave tried for any offence which is by law punishable
with death, does not employ council in his defence, the
court shall assign council and fix the amount of his fee, and
such fee shall be recoverable by such council against the
owner or owners of such slave by action of debt, be and
the same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER CXXXIV.
An Act to amend an act passed the 9th day of Februarv, 18.36, chap-
ter 15th.
SECTION 1. Beit naCec(l by the   General-Issombly of
Mhe State of Tennssee, That so much of the 13th Section neveal
of the above recited act as requires the sheriffs to pay over
the taxes by them  collected to the treasueer of the State,
- on-or before the first day of October in each and every
year, be and the same is' hereby repealed.
SEc. 2. Be it ected, That it shall hereafter be the !       rny
duty of the sheriffs appointed to collect the public taxes, to',  e  rai
pay over anvd account for the same to the treasurer of the eIniirrr
