January of every year: Provided, also, that in addition to
the resident inhabitants, cach owner of real estate in said
town shall be entitled to vote for said officers, whether res-
ident in said town or not: And provided also, the powers of
said corporation shall not extend beyond the lands em-
braced in the plan of said town: And provided further, that
the powers of said corporation shall not extend to the in-
fliction of any additional penalties upon crimes punishable
by the statute or common law of the State.

CHAPTER CCXXV.
An Act for the relief of William H. Cook.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ten-
nessee, That the bank agent for the county of M'Minn, is
hereby authorized and directed to pay to William H.
Cook, the sum of one hundred and twenty six dollars for
his services as agent for the school lands in the county of
M'Minn, in the year 1831, and the receipt of the said Cook
shall be a good voucher to the said agent, in the settle-
ment of the amount that came to his hands as agent, as
aforesaid.

CHAPTER CCXXVI.
An Act to authorize the county court of Blount county to emancipate
George, a slave.
George      SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
cipaed.  State of Tennessee, That the county court of Blount coun-
ty, be,and is herebyauthorized to emancipate George, a
slave, late the property of David Caldwell, deceased, upon
the petition of the executor of David Caldwell, deceased,
or either of them, with the consent of the heirs and dis-
tributees of the estate of the said deceased; and that the
said George shall hereafter be known and distinguished
by the name of Geoirge Caldwell, and shall have all the
