feooeside, and where it descends from said inouintain at the
foot thereof, neua the White Plains on the west side, and to
creat turnpikes, Thereon and keep the same for ten year
from the pdssage of this ac't.
SLc. 2. Be it ismctcd, That Charla Sevier be, and he
is hereby appointed commissioner of said road, and shall

examine the ground over which the present road psse s, mInd
a cartain whether a better way can be found forany part
or parts of said road, and mark out such parts as they may
think lfoppr', to have opened over diffi-rent ground, fron
pe Iresent road, and said comnissioner must state in
writing is assent to the altcrations agreed on specifying
thinr; aid whOen the road shall be opeied and put in good
repair, to grailt him a license to trect.and: keep two gates
on said road, at such plces as he may deem proper. and to
