ble inhabitants of this State.

State of  Tennessee, That the justices of, the peace in Justice to take
each county in this state, who shall be appointed after and return list
the firstdayofJanuary next, to take lists-of taxable pro- to court.
perty and polls, as directed by law, shall, and are here-
.byrequired,hiiditishicm cby inadibthe duty of each of the
justices, to take, and make out in writing, annaccuratc
and complete list of the iames and number of free tax-
able inhabitants, who are over the age of- twenty. one
years, and who would be entitled to vote for members
of the general assembly at the next election ;. and. who,
on the first day ofJanuary, in the year is2, did live
in the district in which such justice of the peace is.ap-
pointed to take such lists of taxable property and polls;
and it shall be the duty of cach of the-said justices, to
return the.list of taxable inhabitants so taken -by hims
as aforesaid, signed with his name, to the courtof
pleas and quarter sessioins, which shall be held in and
for the county in which hc is. a justice of the peace,
next, before the last day of July in said year.
Sec. 2. Be it enacted.. That it shaill be the duly of Clerk8otramy
the clerks of each county court of pleas and quarter miitlosecemary
sessions, and he is hereby required to take the aggro-
