Sico. 4. Be it further enacted, That all laws and clauses
of laws conflicting with the true intent and meaning of this
act be and the same are heroby repealed.

('ap. 223. AN Acr TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF SAL1slIUItY.
Additional SictrroN 1. Be it enacted by the General Asembly <f the
(ies. State of North-Carulina, and it is hercey enacted by the au-
thoriti of the same, That the board of conunissioners for
the town of Salisbury shall have power annually to levy
and cause to be collected, in the manner prescribed in the
charter, the following additional taxes, to wit
Crausr (1) On all licensed retailers of spirituous and al-
coholic liquors, a tax not exceeding twenty-five dollars.
(2) On all ven(lers of wines, cordials, without license, or
other spirituous or alcoholic ori malt liquors, a tax not
execeding ten dollars.
(3) On all billiard tables, a tax not exceeding twenty-five
(4) On all ten-pin alloys, a tax not exceeding twenty-five
dolhars.
(5) O(n all public drays, carts, wagons and omnibuses a
lax niot execeding teii dollars.
(6) On all livery stables, a tax not exceeding ten dollars.
(7) On every koeper of a common inn, ordinary, tavern
or hotel, a tax not exceeding ten dollars.
(8) On all bankers, a tax not exceeding ten dollars.
(9) On all pedlars of patent soap, medicinee., ink, varnish
or any goods, wares or merchandise of any kind whatsoover,
which are not of the products or manufacture of this State
