AN ACT FOR THE BETTER REGULATION OF THE TOWN
OF CLINTON, IN THE COUNTY OF SAMPSON.
Src. I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
the State of North Carolina, and it is hercby enacted
by the authority of the same, That James M Mosely,
Isanc Boykin, Doct. Henry A. Bizzell, John R. Bea.
man and Alfred Johnson be, and they are hereby ap.
pointed commissioners for the town of Clinton in the
county of Sampson, and that they and their successors
in office, chosen in the manner hereinafter provided
for, be. and they are hereby created a corporation and
body politic, under the name and title of  The com.
missioners for the Town of Clinton, and as such
they are entitled to all the privileges and imn.unities
of a body.corporate to hold property, to contract and
be contracted with, to sue and be sued, plead and be
im1plended in their corporate name, to make such by.
laws and regulations as they or a majority of them
may deem necessary for the good order and govern-
met of said town, and for the inlrovement of
streets, the laying out and opening of new ones,
and for the preservation of health in said town,
to lay and collect taxes for the necessary support of
police and town government, and to transact any bu-
siness in their corporate capacity, through the agency,
of the oflicers of'the town, to be appointed in manner
hereinafter provided for, not inconsistent with *he con.
stitution of this State, or of the United States.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, rhat the corporate
limits of Clinton in tne county of Sampson, shall re-
