rarv Mind be, and they 'ao hereby directed to apply from
the proceeds of the sales of the swamp lands in Hydo and
IWashington counties, a sum not exceeding five th6usand
dollars to the continuation of the Turnpike road from the
West end of Lake Pungo to the Plymouth and Pungo
Turnpike, at or near the Forked Cypress ; thence with the
said Turnpike to the Plymouth and Long Acro Road, in
Washiigton cointy, so as morc effectnally to carry into effect
the act of the General Assembly, passed at its session of
1846-'7, entitled An Act to mako a road fiom Plymouth,
in Washington county, to Pungo River, in Beaufort county,
and to bring into market the swamp lands of the State.
[Ratified 29th day of January, 1849.]
A RESOLUTION directing the Public Treasurer to pro.
cure a Seal of Office.
Resolrcd, That the Public Treansurer be, and he is here-
by authorized and requircd to procure a seal of office, with
such devices thereru, as the Treasurer and Governor of the
State deem most suitable.
[Ratified 29th day of January, 1849.]
RESOLUTIONS respecting Slavery in the Territories.
1st. Resolved, That the States came into the Union as
equals, and that the citizens of each State are entitled to
equal rights, privileges and immunities under the constitu-
tion of the United States.
