CI4PTER XXIX,
An Act concerning the collection of fines and costs from Froo
Negroes and Free Persons of Colour.
Be it enacted by the General .Issembly of the State of North
,Carolina, and it is heruby enacted by the puthority of the same,
That the Act, entitled  An Act to amend the fifty-eighth Pattof forer
Chapter of the Revised Statutes, entitled  Insolvent Debt-
ors, passed at the Session of the General Assembly, in the
years one thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight, and one
ttiousand eight hundred and thirty-nine, shall be, and the
vame is hereby repealed, so far as it extends, or may 1e con-
strued to extend, to free Negroes and free Persons of Colour.
[Ratified, the 11th day of January, 1841.]
CHAPTER XXX.
An Act to prevent Free Persons of Colour from carrying
Fire-arms.
Be it enacted by the General .Assembly of the State of North
Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same,
That if any free Negro, Mulatto, or free Person of Colour, Coloured per-
sons carrymng
shall wear or carry about his or her person, or keep in his or Arms, guil y
her house, any Shot-gun, Musket, Rifle, Pistol, Sword, Dag. of a miWde-
mantfor.

cense therefor from the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions
