his hands sufficient county money subject ti the Payment of such order, the

V.- 1Be it furthir enacted, That the biobd whico any sheriff of Grinville may
hereafter enter into in any year, for the due collection and accounting for. the
county and poor taxes of said county, shall be cinstrued to extend to the per.
formance of all the duties required by this act ; and the sheritf anti his securi-
ties shall be, and they are hereby made liable for all moneys which may enme
into his handA by virtue of this act, and for the performance of all the duties
herein requived.
i V. Hi it further enoacted, That the county trustee now in office in the county
of Granville, shall continue to disctiare thodulies of his oflice until the tenth
dty of Atgust, one thounitand eigit lutidreol and thirty five, at which timie he
shall close his accoulnts, ind deliver to the sheritf of said county all the money
and eflects belongin to the county which may be in his hands.

Be it therefore cnacted by the General .qssemby1 of the State of North Carolina,
and it i& hereby macted hy the authority of the saue, That'the governor is
hereby authorized anil directed to raune to he i.ued a grant fur five acres of land
to .acob Mason, Amns Cabe, William Little, Richard Wilson, leaac Ashe, and
their successors, to hold in trust, fir a buryiig ground and place of public wor.

11. Be it furiher enacted, That belore said grant %hall issue, the grantees
shall have the eforesaid ive acres survtyed by the county surveyor of Macon
county, and upon his plat and certificate representing that he has surveyed said
land out of the eighth district and one hundred and thrry fifth section of the Che
rokee lands, lying on the waters ot the S vannah creek, in Macon county, in,
cluding the Spring Meeting House and burying ground, situated in said section;
the grant shall issue accordingly,

is hcreby enacted by the authority of the sane, That Uniiel. a slave, the prii.
perty of Williat Macay of RIowan county, be, ani lie is herphy, with the rorw
sent ani at the request of his said owner, emancipated and set free; and by the
name of Daniel Mlacty shall hereafter possess and exercise all the rights and
privileges which are enjoyed by other free persons of color in this State
Provided nevertheless, that before such slave shAl I be emancipated ,. the petition.
er shall give bond and go)d security to the Governor anti his successors in of-
fice ill the county court of Itiowan county, that the said slave shall honeitly
and correctly demean himnelf as lonz as lie shall remain in the State, and shall
not become a parish charge; which bond may be suti itipon in tit-he mile of the
Governor, for the time bieing to the use of the parish, and of any person injurej.
