V. Atnd be it ferther enacted, That it shall be the duty of sanid
committee of Finance in the name of the said committee to insti.*
tutesuit against any person or persons or the representative or
representatives of such, as niny be indebted to the said county or
shiall hereafter become so and fail to make payment, which said-
suit or suits shall be prosecuted at tihe expense of and for the sole
use and benefit of said county, and the said committee shall make
out two fir statrnemts of each settlement they may make undei
the provisions of this act, one of which shall be filed with the cleric
,of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, and the other to be re-
tained by the committee.
VI. A2nd be itferther enacted, That as a compensation for their
services, the said committee shall receive the sutm of two dollars
each per day, while necessa'ily engaged in the peformance of their
duty, and shall be further allowed at the rate of one dollar for every
thir'ty miles traelling while engaged in the performanttce thteteof
in going to and coming from the place or places of appointment
for the transaction of the business of said committee, Which com-
pensation shall be paid by the County Trustee and the same shall
be allowed him in the settlement of' his acconut.
VII. And be itfurther enacted, That at tie Court of Pleas and
Quarter Scssionsseven Justices being oi tihe bench, are hereby fully
authorised and empowered to flil'all vacancies which may happen
in said Committee of Finance, by death, resignation, removal or
refusal to act of any one or mote of its members.
VIII. And be it further enacted, That this act shall be in: thrco
from an(l after the ratification thereof, and that all laws and clauses
of laws coiimg within the purview and tcaniing of the samne, are
hereby repealed.
CHAPTER LXXV.
An Act to repeal in part, the first section ofan Act passed in 1822. entitled, At,
Act to authorize the County Courts ofTPlca and Quarter Sessions of Chatham
and other counties therein named to appoint a committee of Finance.
Be it enacted by the General .Assembly of the State qf' .orth-Ca-
rolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That
so much of the first section of the above recited act, as wnthoriz-
es the appointment of a Committee of Finance by seven Justices,
be atnd the same is repealed, except as to the counties of Anson and
Perquimnons.
CHAPTER LXXVI.
An Act to repeal in part an Act passed in the year 1823, entitled An Act to regu-
