Richard lall, James Adams, Alexander Huggins, James L. Hill, Alexan
der Barr and Abraham Alexander he, and they are hereby constituted a
body politic and corporate, to be knowu and distinguished by the name of
the Trubtees of the Union Library Society, and, by that name, shall have.
perpetual succession; and shall be able and capable in law, to take, have,
hold, receive, possess and enjoy any estale or property, real or personal,
which they may obtain by gift, purchase, devise or otherwise, and ap.,ly the
same for the benefit of said corporation, according to the will of the do-
zIor, and according to such rules as may from time to time be established
by the said corporation for the government thereof.
11. And be it further enacted, That the said Trustees, and their suc-
,cessors. by the name and style aforesaid, may sue and be sued, plead and
be irnpleaded ; and they shall have power and authority to make such bye.
laws and regulations as they may think proper, for the due ordering of the
several matters appertaining to the said institution, not inconsistot with
the constitution and laws of this State.
Ill. And beit further enacted, Thatin case of the death,disability,re-
Inoval, or refusal to act, of any of the before named Trustees, it shall and
may be lawful for the remaining Trustees, or a majority of them,to appoint
inother or others in their stead. who are hereby declared to be as truly and
fully Trustees of the 6* Union Library Society, to all intents and pur-
posses, as if they had been severally named in this act.
CHAP. LXXVII.
An act regulating the duties of the County Trustee of Randolph County.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Torth-Carolina,
.and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from aind after
the passing of this act, it shall be the duty of the County Trustee of Ran-
dolph County, to attend at the Court House in said County, on the last day
of every Court, with the money in his hands for County purposes, and pay
off all the Jurors attending said Courts out of any monies in his hands, not
otherwise appropriated.
II. Be it further enacted, That should it so happen, that he hath not
sufficient money in his hands so to pay off the Jurors aloresaid. that he.
shall make the same known to the Justices of the Court of Pleas and
Quarter Sessions of the County aforesaid, at the next term of said Court
after his knowledge of the said deficiency: any law to the contrary not-
withstanding.
CHAP. LXXVIII.
An act concerning the town of Salisbury.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly ot the state of North-Carolina,
and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the. same, That the Commis.
sioners of the town of Salisbury have power to form and organize a fire
company, to be composed of the citizens of said Town, which company, so
formed, and not exceeding fifty men in number, ,hall be exempt from the
duty of petty musters, subject however to pertorm militia duty at all ie-
gimental musters and public reviews. And the said Commissioners shall
have power to prescribe rules and regulations for the said company, and to
fix fines and penalties for neglect or violation of duty.
