BE it enactedby the General Jsemb/y of the State of No rth-
Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authorny of the sane,
'That the Justices of the Peace appoined to take lists  tax- Mannr6f

of taxes,' shall, after giving due nilice thereof accoiding to
the directions ol th beifore recited act, iequirceach and every
person or persons liable to pay a land tax by lease or other-
wise, to list each and vvcry tracr of land by him. her or them
lio'den within the county, stating the number ofacres of ench
sepatate tract, its local situati-n and its reasonable value; in-
cluding the improvemaents thrrein ; :nd quardians of minors, comlans
lunatics and pers'ons non compos mentia shall in like manner to list the
list the lands of their vards and  f such lunatic and pers 11ns111'{ o

ble and bound to list lands as of .t.said, shall r turn the said
list upon oath or affirmati n(as the care may br) as it respects
the quantity, and shall alixa value to each tract of land inclu-
ding the. improvements thereon contained in the said list, not
less than the value affixed to the same by the board f principal
assessors under the last actof Congress, p:oviding for the as-
sessment of lands of the Unitrd States . And it shall be the
duty of the Justices of the P ace by whom the lists of taxables
are taken, to return to the clerk of the court, with his list <
taxables, the abstract of assessment furnished him i the
plerk : Provided nevertheless that if any rei s.n or persons Sntidardt
shall consider himself or themselves agrieved by the said ai- Assessment.
