STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.
CHAPTER I.
An Aet entitled An Act to amend An Act entitled
An Act better to provide for the families of sol-
diers. Approved December 2, 1863.
SECTION 1. Be it enarted by the Legislature of'
the State of misdissippi, That in order the better  Taa kint
to provide for the families of soldiers, a tax tweopreption,
in kind   of two   per cen tum  be, and is      a e
hereby leviod, oft the gross amount of all corn, gross profitI.
wheat and bacon grown or produced in the year
1865, and each succes:ivc year thereafter; on the
tolls from all grain mills f6r the same period
on the gross proffts of loather, manufactured or
to be ipanufactured,'for sale, or received on
shares, or as commission, by all tanneries, for
the same peiiod  and on all woolen and cotton
fabrics and yarns manufactured for sale by aft
manufacturing company or establishment during
the same period : Provided, that no tax, in kihd
shall be levied on corn, when the gross amount
grown does not exceed one hundred bushels, or
on wheat, when the. amount does not exceed
twenty-fiye bushels, or on, bacon, when the
amount does not exceed three hundred pounds ;
