CHAPTER. XI.
AN ACT to prevent suits against Southern Soldiers.
,Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of
.Misissippi, That it shall be unktwful to commence
or proscoute any suit or acti6n for debt against any
Southern soldier who may be called into actual ser-
vice by the authoritiesof this State whilehe isor may
be engaged in the military service of any of the
Southern States, and every party, attorney or other
person offending against this act shall be fined and
imprisoned for contempt. The fine not to exceed
five times the amount of the debt sued for, to be
paid to the soldier or his family as the court shall
award.
Be it enacted, That this act take effect and be in
force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER XII.
AN ACT making certain appropriations therein named.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
the State Mississippi,an That the following sums be
allowed and paid out of any money in the Treasury
not otherwise appropriated, to-wit:
ART. 1. To E. Barksdale the sum of one hund-
red and twenty dollars ($120 00) for Daily 1isSis-
sippi furnished extra session of the Legislature.
ART. 2. To W. H. & T. C. Loud, the sum of
forty-nine dollars and eighty cents for books and
stationery, furnished the Vice- Chancery Court at
Holly Springs.
ART. 3. To S. French the sum of twenty-five
dollars, for repairing chairs, furnishing locks, &e..
in Senate Chamber and House of Representatives,
ART. 4. To H. Hilzhiem, the sum of three hun-
dred and sixty-two dollars and fifty cents ($362 00)
for entertainment of Col. Armstead Burt, Commis-
