CIAPTER CCXXXVIII.
AN ACT for the relief of W. F. Smith.
SECTION 1. Be it enactecd by the Legi8lature
of the State of Mississippi, That whereas it ap-
pears that warrant No. 322 for one hundred and
sixty-one dollars was issued in favor of William
F. Smith, on tax sales department on the 7th day
of September, A. D. 1859, and that said warrant
has been lost by said Smith, and has never been
paid or presented for payment at the said treasury;
therefore the auditor be and he is hereby author-
ized to issue a duplicate warrant for said sun in
favor of said Smith, which shall be as valid as the
original warrant,. the payment of either to be in
discharge of both.
SEc. 3. Be it jhrther enacted, That this act
take effect and be in force from and after its pas-
sage.

AN ACT for the relief of Thomas Crenshaw, a free man of
color, of Copiah county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State of .A1ississ.ippi, That Thomas Crenshaw, a free
man of color in Copiah county be permitted to go
before the Probate Judge of said county and volun-
tarily to select a master, and go into slavery for life:
Provided, that the master so selected by him shall
also appear before said judge, and accept said
slave as his property, and whenever the parties
aforesaid appear before said judge and voluntarily
enter into the relation of master and slave as
