SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act
shall take effect and be in force from and after its
passage.

CHAPTER CCXXVII.
AN ACT for the relief of Sarah 0. Jacobs, Zachariah Y.
Jacobs and WilliamsH. H. Jacobs, minor heirs of the late
Christopher Holly and of the late Matilda Jacobs, free
persons of African blood, residing in the county of Clai-
borne, State of Mississippi.
WHEREAS, It has been represented to the Leg-
islature of the State of Mississippi, that said mi-
nors are about to leave the said State, and take up
their residence in some other State; that there are
eight heirs of said Holly and Matilda Jacobs, five
of whom are over the age of twenty-one years, and
have sold their undivided interests and shares in
the real mnd personal estates of said decedents;
and that said minors have no guardians of their
persons and estates; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
the State of .lfississippi, That Sarah C. Jacobs,
a free woman of African blood, nineteen years of
age, residing now lawfully in the county of Clai-
borne, aforesaid, be, and is hereby declared to be
capable of suing and being sued, and of making
contracts in relatirn to, and taking possession of
her property; and, with the approval of Thomas
W. Broughton, hereinafter named, of alienating
and conveying the same, at her discretion, in as
full 'and ample manner, and to all intents and pur-
poses, as if she were of the age of twenty-one
years, and were a citizen of this State.
'SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That Thomas W.
