CHAPTER CCXII.
AN ACT to amend Art. 21, Sec. 4, Chap. 15, of the Revised
Code, in relation to collection of fines of defaulting Road
hands.
.SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legi87ature
of the State of Alississippi, That any justice of
the peace in this State, to whom any overseer or
overseers of any public roads shall make any re-
port or return as is required of said overseer of
roads, by the foregoing recited art. 21, sce. 4, chap.
15, setting forth the number of defaulting road
workers, and the time that the said- defaulter
or defaulters failed to appear and do road service
as required by law, the said justice of the peace
shall not issue a warrant said defaulter or default-
ers until after the expiration of ten days from the
time the said overseer makes such report, and any
defaulter or deaulters who may have any excuse
to make in his or their behalf, may appear before
the said justice of the peace, and make such ex-
cuse within the ten days alluded to, after which
time the return of the overseer shall be final
against such defaulter or defaulters, so far as re-
lates to the costs.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act be
in force and take effect from and after its pas-
sage.

CHAPTER CCXIII.
AN ACT for the relief of the heirs of Thomas Guinea.
WHEREAs, it appears by the certificate of sundry
citizens of Pike county, that Green, a negro slave
belonging to the heirs of Thomas Guinea, deceased,
was tried and convicted in the circuit court of said
county of the murder of one Ralph, a negro slave
belonging to John Summers of said county, and
