ferson college, for the 'use 'f te state, be and
the same is hereby remitted and. relpased, upon
condition of payment of all costs of court by said
trustees.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act take
effect from the date of the, payment of said costs.

CHAPTER      LXXXIII.
AN ACT for the relief of Newman H. Dobbs, !sheriff and Tax Collector of
the county of Monroeo.
WHFREAS, Newman H. Dobbs, sheriff and tax
collector of the county of Monroe, on the first
day of March, A. D. 1854, collected of Messrs.
Adams & ,Wicks, the sum of two hundred and fifty-
ofte dollars and twenty-five cents for the state tak,
on the sales of slaves in this state, and afterwaras
paid the same into the state . treasury, on the first
of May in the same year, and whores the said
Adam4 &Widks : have. recovered, a j!.glent, in
'the circuitcotirt of Monroe county,.oA he 21st of
September, 1855, for the/sum of four hudred, aAd
eighty dollars and . seventy-two. -pent, which sum
includes the said sum  of two hunded, 4n' fifty-
one;dollars,.and twenty:-fvie cents, with interest
from therfirst of March, A.D.. 1854, on the ground
that the-said tax was: illegally. assPased apd col-
jected, the principle, of 'which aacsion:has been
sustained in similar cases by., ti high court of
lernorsand appeals; therefore,
