OHAPTER 256.
JOINT RESOLUTION of the Legislature of the 8 tate of misisaippL
Resolved, (the Senate concurring,) That the Sec-
retary of State, be required to distributo Waile's
Geological survey, now in his possession, among the
senators and representatives, iII proportion to the
representation of each county of this State, for dis-
tribution among the peoploi Provided, that each
member may retain one copy for his own use.
Approved February 21, 1856.
CHAPTER 257.
(JOINT RESOTATTION In relation to the Territory of Ka. uts,
Resolved, by the Legislature of the State of Missis-
sipi, That we sympathize deeply with the friends
ot domestic slavery in the Territory of Kansas, in
the struggle they are carrying on in resistance to
the efforts made to expi slavery therefrom, and
that we fully appreciate the importance to the in-
fluence and safety of the South, that Kansas should
become a slaveholding State, and that therefore we
recominend to the people of this State to take early
and active measures to encourage emigration to
that Territory, and by all lawful and proper means
to strengthen the hands of the frienids of Southern
institutions therein.
Approved March 12, 1856.
CHAPTER 258.
JOINT RESOLUTION making appropriations for the Executive Mansion.
Resolved, by the Senate, the House concurring, That
the sum of two thousand dollars be, and the same
is hereby alppropriated out of the treasury, as a con-
tingent fund, for the Executive Mansion, and the
auditor of public accounts is hereby directed to is-
sue his warrant for the saie upon the requisition of
the Governor.
