the same are hereby declared as good and valid as
if said sales had boon made in all respects conform-
able to law.
SEC. 2. Be it terther enacted, That all act shall
take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

JOINT RESOLUTION In relation to certain comntunications received by
the Governor, on the isubjiect of savery.
WHEREAS , Co1flluun 6ctionS 011 the  S1bject of
Slavery and the polvers and policy of thc Fed-
eral Government in relation thereto, are from
time to time, addressed to the Executive of this
State by the Legislature and Exceutive authori-
ties of other States in which Slavery is 11t recog-
IiZed by law, containi inl gS4di tious an1d treasOnablC
seltiients, evincing a coi temill itious iisregard of
the sacred guaran tees of the Constitution, and
evidently dictated by a blind and reckless fanat-
icisim ; and wvhercas the hilingotge inl which those
comunnuications are usuali' cotuied is violent,
denunciatory and insulting to the Slave-holding
States, and inanifests a hostile temper altogether
incollpatablle with the kind spirit orfiicndship
and good neighborhood, which ought to charac-
terize the intercourse between sovereign States
allied by the bonds of political Union; and
whereas we can recognize no right in the people
of the non-slaveholding States to interfere in any
manner with the Institution of Slavery where it
exists, in the Union, either by armed force of ac-
tive hostility or by Pharisaical lectures upon
the abstract wisdom or morality of the estab-
lished relations of Master and Servant:
AND WiuusAS, While the State of Mississippi is
desirous to maintain and cultivate the most inti-
Imate and friendly relations with all her sister
States, and to receive and consider with respect-
ful attention all communications from  them on
subjects properly concerning the common weal,
she is nevertheless unwilling to listen to the rav-
ings of phrensical fanaticism or the ebulitions of
malignant slander, and cannot permit the ordi-
