CHAPTER 168.
AN ACT toutlhorize tho Proabste Oourt of Panols county to grant to James
t Armstrong an onlar to sell the slaves of his wan. unrah Ann Davis, a
minor.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Leglature of the
State of Misksfii, That the Probate Court of Pa-
nola county be authorized to grant to James C.
Armstrong, of said county, an order to sell the
slaves of his ward, Sarah Ann Davis, a minor, for
cash, or on credit not exceeding twelve months, at
public or private sale, at the discretionof the court;
Provided, in the opinion of the court, a sale will pro-
mote the interest of said minor.
SEC. 2. Be itfurther enacted, That to obtain said
order it shall not be necessary for the court to ap-
point a guardian ab litem, or to require- publication
or notice of any kind.
SEc. 3. Be it further enacted, That after the
collection of the proceds of the sale of said slaves,
the said James C. Armstrong, be required, at the
next term of said court, (unless the court .,hall grant
further time,) to make a final settlement with the
court, without publication or notice; and after re-
taining the commissions and expenscs allowed by
law, to pay over and deliver the residue of all the
money or assetts of his said ward to her guardian
in the State of California, on said foreign guardian
filing in the probate court of said county, a certi-
lied copy of her appointment and bond; and that
this act shall take effect from and after its passage.
