CHAPTER 334.
AN AOT to allow and confirm the Emancipation oi a woman siave
called Maryand her children, according to the bequest and direc-
tions of the last will and testament of their former owner, the late
Thomas Y. Grinstead, deceased, of Lawrence county, and to au-
thorize Wmi M. Porter to emancipate the slaves herein named.
SEC'ION  * .Bc it enacted by the Legidature of the State
of Mississippi That the bequest, directions and
'provisions of theesecond 'and third clauses of the
last will and testament of Thomas Y. Gwiistead,
deceased, late of Lawrence county, Mississippi,
dated 25th.July, 1847, directing 'and providing for
the emancipation of a female slave called Mary, and
her five children, called Francis or Fanny, James,
Henry, Louisa, and Martha, be and the same are
hereby allowed and confirmed, and the said slaves,
Mary and her said children, may be free and eman-
cipated, according tofthe directions and provisions
of said will: Provided, however, that they shall be
removed beyond the limits'of this' State, within a
reasonable time: Provided, however, they shall be
removed within one year after the passage of this
act, by the executor or trustee under said will; for
'which removal, the assent of the Legislature is
hereby given.
Sxc. 2. Be it further enacted, That William M.
Porter, of Franklin county, in this State, is hereby
authorized to emancipate, by will or deed, his two
slaves, to-wit: Warner and Elizabeth, in considera-
ation of meifitorious services by them rendered to
him and his family  Provided, that said slaves shall
be removed from this State within one year after
their emancipation.
