president of the board of trustees may approve,
payable to saidpresident, for the faithful perform-
ance of his duty as secretary and treasurer of said
board, and for the delivery, at the expiration of his
term of office, to his successors, all books, papers,
monies, or whatever may -come into his hands by
virtue of his office.
SEC. 3. Be itfurther enacted, That a majority of
said board shall be competent to transact business,
at any meeting ordered by the president, and due
notice given; said board shall hereafter be styled
the president and trustees of the township for which
they are elected or appointed, and in that name may
sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, in any
suit or suits, in any court of law or equity in this
State: Provided, that nothing in this act. shall be
so construed as to, prevent the county treasurer from
being made the party plaintiff for the recovery of
any and all monies which may be due the common
school fund of said county, previous to the annual
distribution thereof among the several townships.
Snc. 4. Be itfurther enacted, That this act. shall
take effect and be in force from and after its pas-
sage.                 ea.
Snc. 5. Be it further enacted, That the first sec-
tion of the above recited act be and is hereby de-
clared to be in full force in the county of Clarke.

CHAPTER 315.
AN ACT to amend an act entitled an act to extend the cerporate
limits of the town of Columbus, and for other purposes, approved
the 27th of February, 1836.
Boundary  SlCTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State of Mississippi, That all that tract of country
included within the following boundaries, to-wit:
beginning at the north-east corner.of section six-
teen, in township eighteen south, of range eighteen
west, and running thence west talong the line of
said section, to the north-west coiner thereof; thence
south, with the western- boundary line to a point
