eight east, in Attala county, shall be as valid and
effectual to vest title in the purchaser as if all the
formalities of law had been complied with.
SEc. 4. Be it further enacted, That the sale of the
sixteenth section in township eighteen, range six-
teen east, in the Columbus Land District Choctaw
Cession, Lowndes county, sold by the Trustees of
school lands in said township, on the sixteenth day
of May, eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, shall
not be void for any irregularity in said sale, but is
hereby ratified, confirmed and declared to be valid.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this act
shall take effect and be in force from and after its
passage.

CHAPTER 335.
AN ACT to incorporate the town of Starkville, in Oktibbeha
county, and to repeal all other acts heretofore passed respect-
ing the same.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
the State of Mississippi, That the town of Stark-
ville, in Oktibbeha county, be, and the same is
hereby incorporated, and the corporate limits of
Corporate said town shall run to the four cardinal points,
limits.  and form one mile square, to be laid off in such
manner as that the centre of the public square, or
the block upon which the court house is situated,
shall form the centre of the corporate limits of
said town of Starkville.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the qualified
Qualified electors, who are eligible to vote for members of
votersmay the Legislature, residing in the town of Starkville,
cers.   may elect one Justice of the Peace, to be styled
Mayor, one Constable, and five Selectmen, who shall
be freeholders of said town, and the persons so
elected, shall hold their offices two years, and un-
til their successors shall be elected and qualified;
a majority of said Selectmen shall constitute a
quorum to transact business, and they shall have
power at their first meeting, and thereafter at
their pleasure, to appoint an assessor and collector
from the citizens of said town, to continue in office
at the will of said Justice and Selectmen. That
