as its provisions applies to this act, as though all
its provisions had been herein incorporated.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That this act take
effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 118.
AN ACT to amend an act to suppress trade and barter with
slaves, or for other purposes, approved March 6, 1850, so far
as it applies to the counties of Lawrence, Desoto and Rankin.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
the State of Mississippi, That any person or per-
sons who shall buy from any slave or slaves, any
corn, fodder, hay, meat, or fowls, without the ver-
bal or written consent of the master, owner, over-
seer, or employer of such slave or slaves, shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall, on conviction
thereof in the Circuit Court of said county, be
fined in a sum of not less than ten dollars, nor
more than twenty-five dollars, and shall be liable
to all costs of prosecution.
SEC. 2. Be t further enacted, That any merchant,
druggist, or grocery keeper, or any other person,
who shall sell to any slave or slaves, any wine,
spirituous, or malt liquors, without the verbal or
written permission of the master, owner, overseer,
or employer of such slave or slaves, shall be held
guilty of a high misdemeanor, and shall, on con-
viction thereof, be fined in a sum of not less than
fifty dollars, nor more than one hundred dollars,
and shall be liable to all costs of prosecution.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That one half of
all fines collected under the provisions of this act,
shall be paid to the prosecutor, and the other half
to be appropriated to the common school fund of
the county.
SEC. 4. And be it fwrther enacted, And that all
acts and parts of act conflicting with the provi-
sions of this act, be, and the same are hereby re-
pealed, and the provisions of this act apply to the
counties of Lawrence, Rankin and Desoto.
