CHAPTER 60.
AN ACT to be entitled an act to incorporate Pontotoc Branch
Rail Road Company.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
the State of Mississippi, That Geo. R. Reneau, Sam'l.
J. Heigh, . 0. Grisham, C. P. Coffin, Robert Gordon,
M(a me William H. Duke, Andrew Miller, James W. Drake,
road with Isaac P. Carr, William W. Leland, Jackson Thomas-
single or ton, William B. Walker, Wolf Stepacher, Harvey
trac.e  Goodrich, Charles W. Martin, Joel Pinson, John R.
Jones, Benjamin D. Anderson, Robert Scott, William
Wilson, Miles H. Morris, Charles D. Fontaine, Rich-
ard Bolton, William L. Dogan, Hugh R. Miller,
Benjamin C. Earle, Stephen Threlkeld, John Bor-
land, Samuel Barr, J. F. Ellison, John S. Cobb, with
other persons, as shall associate with them for that
purpose, are constituted a body politic and corpo-
rate, by the name of the Pontotoc Branch Rail
Road Company, and by that name to sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded, in any Court of this
State, to make and have a common seal, and the
same to break after or amend at pleasure, and the
said Company is hereby vested with all powers,
privileges and immunities, which are, or may be
necessary to carry into effect the purposes and ob-
jects of this act hereinafter set forth, and said
Company is hereby authorised and empowered to
locate, construct, and finally complete a single or
double Rail Road way, from some suitable point on
the Mobile and Ohio Rail Road, in the county of
Pontotoc, if the same shall be located through
said county, if not, then from some point on the
said Mobile and Ohio Rail Road, in the county of
Itawamba, to the town of Pontotoc; and said Com-
pany shall have power to purchase with the funds
of said Company, and place on said Rail Road all
machines, vehicles, cars, carriages and locomotives,
of any description whatever, and to transport, take
and carry property and persons upon said Rail Road,
or way, by the power and force of steam, of ani-
mals, or of any other mechanical, or other power,
or any combination of them, which the said Com-
pany may choose to apply, and for the purpose of
constructing said Rail Road or way, the said Com-
pany is hereby authorised to lay out their Road,,
