of Free and Accepted Masons, in Madison county, ap-
proved January 17th,. 1848, be, and the same are
hereby extended to Magnolia Chapter No. 7, of Free
and Accepted Masons, in the town of Brownsville,
in the county of Hinds, and Houston Chapter No.
23, in the town of Houston, in the county of Chick-
asaw.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act
shall be in force and take effect from and after its
passage.

CHAPTER 283.
AN  ACT  to revive and continue an act entitled an act to incorporate
the Southern Rail Road Company, approved 23d February, 1846.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
the State of Mississippi, That the foregoing act be,
and the same is hereby revived, and the provisions
of said act shall be construed as if the same had
originally passed and became a law this day, as here-
inafter amended.
SEC. 2. Be it firt/wr enacted, That the eighth
section of said act be amended in this, when the said
company shall be organized under the provisions of
this act, and shall have finished twenty miles of said
road eastwardly of Brandon, that then, and in that
case, the Governor of the State is hereby authorized
and directed to transfer to said company, the Jackson
and Brandoh Rail Road. the slaves belonging to the
State on said road, the engines, cars and other pro-
perty belonging to the State on such road, m ith all
the privileges attached thereto, as expressed in the
charter of said Jackson and Brandon Rail Road
Company: Provided, that the company herchy in-
corporated shall give bond in a penalty, to be ap-
proved by the Governor, conditioned to apply all the
property herein to be transferred to the finishing and
completing said road to the Alabama line: And pro-
vided further, that the State hereby retains its right
to reclaim said road and property, if said extended
road be not finished to the Alabama line: And pro-
vided further, said road be fully completed by said
company to the Alabama line within six years after
the passage of this act.
