any time appear to the satisfaction- of the commis-
sionerof the three per cent. fund of said county,
that any person or persons is about to remove, or
has removed his property out of the county without
having fli-st paid the amount due by him. to said
three per cent. fund, and upon the affidavit of said
commissioner to that effect, he shall be authorized
to sue out an attachment against su.ch person or
persons so removing, in the same manner as credi-
tors are allowed by law to sue out attachments
against absconding debtors; and said commissioners
shall prosecute all such suits in the name of the Pre-
sident of the Board of county Police of said county,
and shall be governed in all respects, according to
the laws now in existence.
SEc. 5. And be it further enacted, That the pro-
visions of this act shall apply only to the county of
Jones.

CHAPTER 148.
AN ACT to authorize the Board of Police for the county of lEsaquena
to assign hands to work on Deer Creek.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
the State of Mississippi, That hereafter, when a ma-
jority of the citizens of any township or fractional
township, residing on Deer Creek, in the county of
Issaquena, shall petition the Board of Police for said
county to assign a portion of their hands to.work
on said Creek, which are now by law, subject to
road duty, it shall be the duty of said Board of Po-
lice to assign such portion of hands to work on said
Creek, as in their opinion, can be properly taken
from roads.
SEc. 2. Be it further enacted, That it shall be the
duty of said Board of Police to divide said Creek
into convenient districts, and assign overseers and
hands, under the same requisitions and penalties as
are now fixed by law for overseers and hands as-
signed to work on roads.
Snc. 3. Be it further enacted, That it shall be
the duty of such overseers to have cut or sawed,
and remove the same, such logs and drift in the
