CHAPTER 52.
AN ACT to amend an act entitled an act concerning divorae and
alimony, passed June 15. 1822.
Sames 1. Be it emassed by the Legislaure of the
B&ate of Mississippi, That in addition to the causes
of divorce from the bonds of matrimony, enumerated
in the act concerning divorce and alimony, passed
June 15, 1822, divorces from the bonds of matrimony
shall be decreed in case either party shall be by a
court of competent jurisdiction convicted of a crime
of grand larceny or negro stealing, punishable by
law in the State penitentiary, and shall be pursuant
to said conviction actually confined in the peniten-
tiary: Provided, That the application for the divorce
is made before the expiration of the term of confin-
ment.
Szc. 2. Be it further enacted, That the benefits
and provisions of the first section of this act shall
apply to all cases of trial and conviction of offenees
punishable by confinement in the penitentiary, hoe-
tofore had and made: Provided, the application be.
made before the expiration of the period of cofie-
ment.
Sac. 3. And be it further enacted, That this act
take effect and be in force ftom and after its passep.

CHAPTER 43.
AN ACT to amend an act entitled an act to aid in the establishment
of an Institution for the Instruction of the Blind, passed March 2,
1848.
8orroM 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of
Appropri. the State of Mississippi, That in lieu of the annual
ation.  appropriation of one thousand dollars, heretofore'
made for the benefit of an institution for the instrue-
tion of the blind, the sum of two thousand five hun-
dred dollars, annually,payable quarterly, in advance,.
out of any money in the treasury, not otherwise ap-.
propriated, shall be paid for the benefit of said insti-
tution; and the Auditor of Public Atcounts is hereby
directed to issue his warrants upon the treasury, in
favor of said trustees, upon the requisition of said
trustees, or a majority of them.
