CHAPTER 77.
AN ACT to incorporate and establish the town of Yazoo City, and
for revising and repealing all laws and parts of laws heretofore
enacted on that subject.
SECTION* 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
Bounda- State of Mississippi, That so much of the county
of Yazoo as is contained within the limits and boun-
daries of the following described lands, to-wit: the
west half of section No. 33, and lots numbered one,
four and five, of section 32, all in township 12, range
2 west, in the district of Choctaw, at a place hereto-
fore known as Hannan's Bluff, on the Yazoo river,
in the county and State aforesaid, (being the same
upon which the town of Manchester was originally
laid out,) shall be, and the same is hereby declared
to be a town, and the inhabitants thereof are crea-
ted a body corporate and politic, with perpetual
succession, by the name and style of Yazoo City
which shall be laid off into two or more separatd
and distinct wards, hereafter to be designated by
the town council, and as such, by that name, shall
be capable in law of contracting and being contract-
ed with, of sueing and being sued, pleading and be-
ing impleaded, answering and being answered unto,
in.all courts and places, and in all matters whatso-
ever, and also, of purchasing, using, occupying, en-
joying and conveying real, personal and mixed es-
tate, and may have and use a corporate seal, and
change, alter, and renew the same at pleasure, and
shall be competent to have, exercise and enjoy, all
rights, immunities, privileges and powers, and be
