CHAPTER 1.
N ACT to aneid and reduce-into oe the several acts in relation
to the revenue of this State, and for other purposes.
SECTIoN 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the  What
State of Mississippi, That hereafter all negroes un-  ty
der the age of sixty years, shall be subject and lia-
ble to a tax of sixty cents each; that all lands. liable
to. taxtion under the laws of this State, shall be lia-
:ble and subject to an ad valorem tax of:one-fourtli
of one per cent.; ahd on all other articles and things
the tax shall be the same asis. imposed by an act en-
titled an act to reduce into one the several laws in
relation to the revenue of this State, and for other
purposes,. approved February 24, 1844.
