SEC. 3. Anel be it furtlhr enacted, That this act
shall be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 179.
AN ACT to change the names of James and Frances Vinyard,
to James and Frances Blanks,.and for other purposes.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State ofXllississippi, That the names of James Vin-
yard and Fiances Vinyard, minors, now in the care
of Dempsey Blaiks, of Lauderdale county, in this
State, be changed to those of James and Frances
Blanks, and that the said James and Frances shall
hereafter be known and called by the names of
James Blanks and Frances Blanks; and by these
names shall they sued and be sued, plead and be
impleaded, in any suit or suits at law or equity,
SEC. 2. Be it father enctard, That the said Iemp-
sey Blanks, now residing in the county of Lauder-
dale aforesaid, be, and he is hereby vested with the
full paternal care aid custody of the said James and
Frances Blanks, during the minority of them, and
each of them; and that the said Dempsey Blanks
shall hold the care and custody of and over the
said James and Frances, against the claims of any
other person or persons whatsoever, for the purpose
of the nurture and education of the said James and
Frances.
SEc. 3. Be it further enacted, That in accordance
with the petition of the said Dempsey Blanks, the
following named negro slaves, namely: Lucy, and
her four children, to-wit-Caroline, Mary, Agga, and
