Louisiana.
SEc. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act
shall take effect and be in force from and after its
passage.

CHAPTER 161.
AN ACT for the relief of Jaque Gilley, a free man of color.
WHEREAS, it hath been represerted to the Legis-
lature of the State of Mississippi, that Jaque Gilley,
a free man of color, was emancipated by his master,
about eight years ago, and that the said Jaque Gil-
leyis a peaceable, industrious and useful member of
the community; therefore,
SE.c'rON 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State of Mississippi, That said Jaque Gilley be, and
he is hereby permitted to remain in the county of
Pontotoc, and to exercise and enjoy all the rights,
privileges and immunities of free persons of color,
within said county: Provided, however, if the Board
of Police of said county shall require it, said Jaque
Gilley shall enter into bond with one or more sure-
ties, in a penalty not exceeding five hundred dollars,
payable to the President of the Board of Police, and
his successors in office: conditioned, that he shall
not become a public charge, and shall be of good be-
havior, so long as he may continue to reside in the
aforesaid county, which bond may be put in suit for
the use of the county, for a breach of any of the con-
ditions thereof.
