CHAPTER 148.
AN ACT for the relief of Aaron White, a free man of color.
WHEREAS, it has been represented to the Legisl.a-
turd of the State of Mississippi that Aaron White,
a free mulatto man, was emancipated by his owner
about nine years since, and that said Aaron Whiteis a
peaceable, honest, and industrious member of the
community: Therefore-
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the
State of Mississippi, That the said Aaron White be,
and he is hereby permitted to remain and reside
within the county of Hinds, and State of Mississippi,
and to exercise within said county and State, all
the rights and privileges of free persons of color:
Provided, however, if the board of police of said
county shall require it, the said Aaron White shall
enter into bond, with one or more securities,.in a pe-
nalty not exceeding five hundred dollars, payable
to the President of the boaid of police, and his suc-
cessors in office, conditioned that he shall not be-
come a public charge, and shall be of good beha-
viour so long as he shall continue to-reside within
the aforesaid county; which bond may be put in
suit for any breach of the conditions thereof, and
the penalty be recovered for the use of the county.
SEc. 2. And i'e it further enacted, That this act
shall take effect from the date of its passage..
