a manner as if the same had been bequeathed to
him by will, or had inherited as a legal heir: Pro-
vided, however, the rights of legal heirs and credi-
tors be not injured thereby.
SEc. 3. Be it further enacted, That this act shall
be intforce from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 145.
AN ACT. for the relief of.Rose Austin and Mary Jane Austino
free. persons of color.
SECTIOk 1. Wh-i-eas, it has been represented to
the Legislature of the State of Mississippi that Rose
Austin, a free woman of color was emancipated by
her owner about fifteen years since, for faithful and
meritorious services performed by her while in a
state of bondage, and that said Rose Austin has a
daughter named Mary Jane, about twelve years
of age, born in this State: And whereas, it has been
been further represented that said persons are ho-
nest, industrious and useful, though humble mem-
bers of the community: Therefore
Pe it enacted by the Lrgislature of the State. of
Mississippi, That the said Rose and Mary Jane Aus-
tin be, and they are hereby permitted and authorized
to remain and reside within the county of Warren, and
State of Mississippi, and to, exercise within said
county of Warren, all the rights and privileges of.
