Repeals con  SEC. 10. And be it further enacted, That all
flictinglaws. laws and parts of laws inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this act be, and the same are hereby,
When act to repealed; and that this act do take effect from
Proviso,  and after its passage: Provided, hotoever, that
nothing contained in this act shall be so con-
strued as to deprive any person against whom
a capias ad satisfaciendum or ad respondenduni
shall hereafter issue, of any of the privileges,
benefits, or advatitages, in the first, second,
third, fourth, and fifth sections of an act enti-
tled an act further to- extend relief to debtors,
approved January 23d, 1824.

CHAPTER 46.
AN ACT for the proteotion and preservation of the rights
and pioperty of Married Women.
Real per. - SECTION I. Be it enacted, by the Legislature
L oh'Id of the State of lississippi, That any married
woman may become seized or possessedof any
property, real or personal, by direct bequest,
demise, gift, purchase, or distribution, in her
Proviso.  own name, and as of her own property: Provi-
ded, the same does not come from her husband
after coverture.

marriage. after when any woman possessed of a property
in slaves, shall marry, her property in such
slaves and their natural increase .shall continue
to her, notwithstanding her coverture ; and she
shall have, hold, and possess the same, as her
separate property, exempt from any liability for
the debts or contracts of the husband.
