Be it resolved by the Legislature of the State of
3lississippi, That our Senators in Congress be
required, and our Representatives requested to use
every exertion in their power to procure the loca-
tion of the Federal District Court at the town of
Jackson in the county of Hinds.
Resolved, That the Governor of the State trans-
mit a copy of this memorial to ourgSenators -and
Representatives in Congress.
CHAP. CXVII.
*MEPORT of the Select Committee on the Resolitions from the
States of Louisiana, Maine, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.
The select committee to which was referred so
much of the Governor's Message as relates to
the Resolutions from the states of Louisiana,
Maine, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, with
the accompanying documents, beg leave to Report!
-1 hat they have had them under consideration,
and would recommend, in regard to the resolution
first narmed,the adoption of the following resolution:
Be it resolved by the Legislature of the State of
Mississippi, That we deem it inexpedient to con-
cur in the Resoluition of the Senate and House of
Representatives of the state of Louisiana, in Gen-
eral Assembly convened, requesting the President
of the Unitei States to order the United States
Engineers to make all the necessary surveys and
estimates for a Rail Road from  New Orleans to
Washington City, inasmuch as we are unprepared,
at this time, to enter upon a scheme of Internal
Ipprovement on so extensive a scale.
2. Resolved, That the Governor be requested to
forward a copy of these resolutions to the Execu-
tive of the state of Louisiana.
