grees.  United States, under such rules and regulations as
may be prescribed by said president and trustees of
the Mississippi College.
Sec. 3. Be it further enacted, That the presi-
dent and trustees of said Mississippi College as a
body corporate and politic be, and the same is
hereby authorized to make such by-laws as may
be dee±med by them necessary for the good govern-
May make ment of said in titution, not inconsistent with the
bylaws. laws and constitution of this State,. and also to add.
to said College such departments in scienCe or
literature as they may deem necessary and as their
means and the necessity of the case may, from time
to time, justify and suggest as expedient.

CHAP. LXXVIII.
AN ACT, to incorporate the town of Athens, in Monroe County,
Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the State of,/lfississippi, in Gen-
eral AssenblU convened, That the town of Athens,
Athens including all the inhabitants residing within one
' ledo. hundred yards of the limits of said town, shall be,
and the same is hereby incorporated, and the in-
habitants of said corporation entitled to vote under
the restrictions prescribed by the constitution of
the state, shall on the first Monday in February
next, and on the first Monday of the same month,
in each and every succeeding year, assemble- at
Five Se the Court-house of said county, between the hobirs
be elected, of ten A. M. and two P. NI. of the said day, and
then and there elect five selectmen, freeholders of
town, a majority of whom shall constitute a quo-
ruin to transact business.
