be subject to state taxation; which tax shall not exceed
one half of the state tax for the year aforesaid, and
shall be assessed  and 'collected in the manner di-
rected by law for the collection of the state tax, and
paid over to the said commissioners, to be applied to

An Act to raise a revenue.
SEC. 1. Be 'it enacted by the Senate and House 0
Representalives of the state of .ississippi,, in general
assembly convened, That the sum of twenty cents for
Land tax every hundred dollars value, be paid on all lands lying
within this state, to which the Indian title has been.
extinguished, except such lands as belong to the Uni-
ted States, and such lands as have been sold by con-
gress, and the term of five years not having expired
since the respective days of sale thereof, according to
the classification and rate established by the act, enti-
tled An act to raise a revenue, passed December
/th, 1815: the sum of seventy-five cents shall be as-
