An Act to emancipate Isabella, a person of color. 1819 27 (1819)

exceeding ten thousand dollars for the use and be-
nefit of said institution, of suing and being sued, of
pleading and being impleaded, and of doing and
performing all other acts and exercising all other
powers incident to bodies corporate.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the aforesaid varon
trustees and their successors, or a majority of them, how I.
shall have power to fill all vacancies in their body,
occasioned by death, resignation, removal or refii-
sal to act; to elect a president and secretary either
in or out of their body, as to them shall seem most
expedient.
Sec. 3. ./Jnd be stfirther enacted, That the president men
or any two of the members may call a meeting of the in
trustees whenever it may be deemed expedient; and
any member reflusing to attend after due notice gil-
en three successive times, shall be deemed to have
resigned.

Assembly by the petition of John Baptiste Nicaisse.
that he is desirous of emancipating the mulatto girl
named Isabella, who is his slave, for certain causes
and considerations stated in his petition. and which
appears reasonabl-: threfore
