AN ACT
t'onfirming the Emancipation of Jerry, a
Man of Colour.
WHEREAS, Benajah Osman, late of
Adams county, deceased, did, by his
last will and testament, bearing date
the twenty-seventh day of May, in the
year of our Lord, one thousand eight
hundred and fifteen', emancipate and
set free, his boy Jerry, therefore-
SEc. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and
Rouse -of Representatives of the State of
.11ississippi in General .dssembly convened,
That the said boy Jerry be, and he
hereby is emancipated and set free
from slavery, in conformity with the
true intent and meaning of the said
testator; provided always, and saving
to the creditors of the estate of said
testator, all their rights and claims; and
provided also, that the said Jerry shall
give security agreeably to law, not to
become chargeable to the public.
