AN ACT
Concerning? the Revenue.
SEC. I. Be it enacted by the senate andhouse
of representatives of the state oflississippi
in ,eneral assembly convened, That the sum
of twenty-seven cents for every hundred
dollars value, be paid on all land lying
within this state, the Indian title to
which has been extinguished, and not
belonging to the United States, except
such lands as may have been sold by
the authority of the United States since
the adoption of the constitution of this
state, according to the classification and
rate established by the Act, entitled,
 An Act to raise a revenue, passed
December 27, 1815, and there shall al-
so hereafter, be paid the sum of sixty-
seven cents on each slave, and the sum
of eighty three cents shall be levied on
all free males above the age of twenty-
one years, and under the age of fifty
years; the sum of twenty-seven cents on
every hundred dollars value of all
lands, lots and buildings.'within any ci-
ty, borough or town, to be estimated by
