AN ACT
Refpel7ing runaway flaves committed to fail.
BE it enacted by the Legilative council and
1-loufe of Reprejentatives of the Mssssippi te rJ
Spry in general ajgemb~y convened, That where a-
ny gave is now in the jail of any county, or
thall hereafter be committed to the jail of any
county within this territory, as a runawa', and
fucli runaway flave fhall not be claimed and
proved by the owner thereof, within fix Months
from the firft publication of the commiiment
of fuch fave, in fome Newfpaper publilbed in
this territory, it [ball be lawtul for the ftheiff of
*4e proper county to fell faid runaway flave at
public auaion, at the court-houle of his proper.

ous notice of fuch fale, by advertifenent pub-
lifhed in fome Newfpaper in this territory, at
the court-houle of the proper county, and at
lealt two other public places within the fame ;
and out of the proceeds arifing from the fale of
any runaway lave as aforefaid, the theriff thall
be entitled to the fame commiflon and fees as
-are allowed in the cal of -executions 3 and tls:
