AN ACT
To ra!/e a Revenue.
Stercio, ift.   BE it enacted by the Leg'i/
lative Council and House of Repersentatives ofthe
Mifi/ippi territory in general affembly convened.
That a tax for the turns, and in the manner
hereinafter mentioned tball be railfed, in each
and every year, and paid into the public trea*
fury for the ufe thereof.
Sec. 2d. And be it futiher enalled, That
the fum of twenty-five cents for every hundred
dollars value be paid on all lands, lying withis
this territory, claimed or held by virtue of any
Britilb or Spanith patent or order of furvey.
the right whereof has been confirmed by either
Board of Commiffioners of the United States,
appointed for fettling claims to land South of
the State of Tenneflee, and alfo on all donatiori
claims, the right whereof has been confirmed
by either of the aforefaid Boards of Coniinfli-
oners: and on fuch part of all pre-emption
claims, as fhall have been paid for by fuch
