eonvened, That every owner of flaves, and all
other perfons below the rank of Captain, liable
to perform militia duty, are hereby declared li-
able to perform Patrol duty, as hereinafter di-
se6ed, but fhall be at liberty to fend a lubfti.

SEc. 2d.   And be it further enac7ed, That
it thall be the duty of each and every captain
ofmilhtia, or commanding officer of a company
to regulate patrols within their own com-
panies, or diftria, by making at every company
inuffer of their refpeaive companies, by rota-
tion, a proper lift of patrol detachments, .and
appoint to every fuch detachment, a leader. or
proper officer, which detachment fball feverally
confift of three men, befide their leader, and
perform the duty of patrols, once in every two
weeks or oftner if ordered by the comnmanding
efficer of their company, for the Ipace of three
