ny officer before hamed fhall take greater fees than
are herein before exprefed and limited for any
fervice to be done in his office, or if fuch oficer Pcrs 'it .1
fhall charge, demand, and take any fees herein 'u
before afcertained for fervices not attual y render-
ed, every officer to offending, thall forfeit ai.d pay
to the party injured fifty doilars, to be recovered
in any court having competent jurifdiion, and it
(hall be lawful for any perfon to refufe payment
of fees to any officer, who will not make out a bill ,,n
of particulars, figned by him if required, and al-   '
fo a receipt, or dilcharge, figned by him, of the
fees paid.

Sec. 1. BE it enaaed, by the Legiflative CoUncil
and Houfe of Reprefienatives of the MI fppi Ter.

nal, except in criminal cafes, in which the evidence
of one flave thall be adainted for or again ano-
ther flave.
SeC. 2. And be it further enwkd, That no
flave ihall go from the tenewranms of his mater, or fl* ****
