An Act to authorize Joseph C. Offutt to sell certain Slaves. 1859 682 (1859)

Be it enacted by the General assembly of the State of Missouri, as
follows:
§ 1. That the said Bird P. Parks, guardian and curator of the estate of
'the aforesaid minors, be, and he is hereby authorized and empowered to ap-
ply the sum of three hundred dollars out of the estate of said minors to the
purchase of all the right, title, interest, and dower of Rachel Jones, former-
ly Rachel Duncan, widow of Frederick M. Duncan, deceased.
§ 2. The said Bird D. Parks shall take from the said Rachel Jones a
good and sufficient conveyance, conveying the legal title to said negroes to
said minors.
§ 3. The said Bird D. Parks, after making said purchase, shall make
report of the same to the County Court, and said court shall give him credit
on his account as curator as aforesaid, for the amount expended by him in
making said purchase.
This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

Be it enacted by the General assembly of the State of Missouri, as
follows :
§ 1. That Joseph C. Offutt, curator of the estate of Susan E. Offutt,
Vandalia Offutt, and Alice J. Offutt, be and he is hereby authorized to sell on
such terms as he may deem most conducive to the interest of his said wards,
any or all of the negroes belonging to said Susan E., Vandalia, and Alice
J. Offutt, and to loan out the money arising from the sale of said negroes.
§ 2. That said Joseph 0. Offutt shall, before entering upon the duties
herein prescribed, give bond with security, to be approved by the County
Court of Audrain county, to the State of Missouri, for the use of said wards,
in double the value of said negroes, conditioned for the faithful discharge of
his duties according to law.
§ 3. Said slaves shall, before sale, be apppraised by three disinterested
persons of the county, which appraisement shall be reported, together with
the proceedings of said curator in regard to said sale, to the County Court
,of said county; which proceedings may be approved or rejected by said court.
This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
