ceive the sum of one dollar and fifty cents, and the same milage now allowed
by law, to be taxed and paid in the same manner as other costs.
§ 2. That each witness duly subpenaed before any grand jury in Cooper
county, shall be allowed one dollar for each day's attendance before such
grand jury; and when no indictment is found, and the prosecutor shall not
be adjudged to pay the cost, the same shall be paid by the county.
§ 3. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent with this act are hereby
repealed, so far as they relate to Cooper county ; and this act shall take
effect and be in force from and after its passage.

Be it cnacted by the General .'lssembly of the State of Missouri, as
follows:
1. It shall be lawful for any Justice of the Peace for the county of
Dade, upon the application, in writing, of two or more slaveholders of his
township, to appoint three and not more than five discreet persons to act as
patrols for said township, for the term of twelve months.
§ 2. The patrols appointed by the foregoing act shall be exempt from
working on roads and serving on juries, during their appointment.
§ 3. The said patrols shall have tie same power in their respective town-
ships, as patrols have under an act, entitled  An act concerning Patrols,
approved December 4, 1855.
§ 4. The patrols appointedl under this act shall patrol at least once in
each week, and shall take from any slave all fire arms or other deadly
weapons found upon them or in their possession.
This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
